How can you fully experience the beauty of a forest while protecting it? One solution the Danish architecture firm EFFEKT has come up with is to give people the chance to walk above the treetops.

The new attraction called the Treetop Experience will sit above the protected Gisselfeld Klosters Skove forest in Haslev, one hour from Copenhagen . The forest itself is privately owned but open to the public until sunset and is home to water cliffs, lakes and wetlands. It’s also a hilly region, which is very unusual in the area.

The route will start at the Camp Adventure Farmhouse in the outskirts of the forest and the architecture firm Effekt designed to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the environment, while still allowing people to experience some of the oldest parts of the forest and see the water features along the way.

The walk will be 600 metres in total and there will be plenty of rest stops along the way where people can learn more about their surroundings. At the end of the walk will be a spectacular 45-metre spiralling observation tower.

From here, you’ll be rewarded with 360-degree panoramic views of the forest canopy. The structure materials will be selected from the forest itself, allowing it to blend in perfectly with the surroundings.

This new Treetop Experience has been commissioned by Camp Adventure , which already runs treetop adventure courses in the area, including climbing and aerial zip-lines. The tower is currently expected to open in summer 2018.
