Day18 aug12: Naqu Tanggula pass Wudaoliang Kunlun Pass Golmud mileage: 830km 19h

Today is a hard day. I set out in the early morning to cross the six kilometer Tanggula Mountain. I passed Wudaoliang, the so-called "forbidden zone of life", which is the most difficult section on the Qinghai Tibet railway. Along the way, only through all kinds of difficulties and dangers can we grow compassion.

It began to rain, dark desert, potholes of the road; In nine cases out of ten, the large truck coming from the opposite side does not turn off the high beam when meeting, whistling and dazzling, which makes driving more difficult.

After the darkest two hours of dangerous road in the early morning, ushered in the first ray of sunshine! In the Zen like picture, the four seasons have moved, the time has been remembered, and the wishes have been presented!

Tanggula Tibetan "mountain on the plateau", due to the year-round wind and snow, known as "snow warehouse". Tanggula is the boundary between Qinghai and Tibet. Its main peak is gladandong, more than 6000 meters above sea level, which is the source of the Yangtze River. The famous Kekexili no man's land under its feet is a natural pasture where wild animals such as Tibetan antelopes are endangered.

This section of Tanggula Mountain is the highest elevation of the Qinghai Tibet railway, but the mountains are not as steep as people think, it looks very gentle. As we approached Wudaoliang, the sky suddenly turned to haze from the sunshine just now. We sighed how fast the sky changed its face. We all smelled the momentum of torrential rain approaching. The dense dark clouds spread rapidly in the boundless sky. In an instant, it began to rain heavily, and then it began to hail, and the ground was quickly covered with a layer of white snow. Since Sichuan Tibet entered Tibet, many riders, walkers and roller skaters have been seen on their way. No matter what the wind or rain, they will keep on going. There are many road sections for road construction, each section is very difficult to walk. The pothole road is full of big stones. It's like sitting on the rough sea. The width of the road is only enough for one car to pass, which means that when driving on one side, the vehicles on the other side must stop and wait. Day19 aug13: Golmud Chaka Salt Lake Xining mileage: 820km 11.5h

Today's route is temporarily adjusted. This plan starts from Golmud to stay in Heima river. You can get up early to see Qinghai Lake and arrive at Chaka Salt Lake in the afternoon. When we inquired about the accommodation in Heima River, we found that it was basically Mongolian tents, and the rooms were full. In order to avoid the inconvenience of temporary accommodation, we temporarily changed the destination to Xining when we couldn't guarantee enough rest for long-distance driving.

Long time no high speed, the clouds in the sky away from us more and more far, reach out to touch has become yesterday. Day20 aug14: Xining Xi'an mileage: 890 km 11.5h

The whole high-speed road, for us, no matter how long the distance is a piece of cake. No need to get up early and have a comfortable breakfast before starting.

45km away from Tianshui, I suddenly heard the left rear tire roar, so I stopped to check. It's very dangerous to change a tire on a highway with only two lanes. One end of the rope was tied to the trunk, leaving sufficient safety area and isolation area; The man began to change the tire. I stood in the front of the rope, waving to the fast-moving vehicles to move inside. The man told us to change, we quickly evacuate warning. Looking back on the pictures at that time, I still have a sense of achievement!

After nearly ten thousand kilometers of Sichuan Tibet + Qinghai Tibet, climbing mountains and wading rivers, mud and sand, we have made great contributions!
